Flower Cake

My latest cake was for Ariana's 6th birthday. She wanted a flower cake w/ a yellow center and six pink petals, denoting her six years.

I baked a 5" round for the center and cut the petals from sheetcakes using a stencil I made. Each was iced and individually covered w/ fondant. I planned to use my Tappits letter cutters for the message, but they weren't cooperating, so I ended up just doing it by hand. I also planned to embellish the cake a little w/ a butterfly I had made, but it broke shortly before I left to deliver the cake.

Overall, I'm very pleased with how the cake turned out.

Butter cake iced w/ vanilla buttercream and covered in homemade marshmellow fondant. Dusted w/ pink pearl luster dust and additionally iced (using star tip #30) w/ vanilla buttercream.
